Alumni Capacity Building –The Alumni Capacity Building VISTA will build systems and structures to create a self-sustaining alumni program, run by and for alumni, with the goal of engaging them in the work of eradicating poverty related educational issues challenging our scholars. The priority areas for this VISTA will be around the current high school alumni, with additional support for post-high school alumni.
Student Support and Services – The Student Support and Services VISTA will oversee newly implemented remedial learning platforms across our six Achievement Centers for our upcoming Summer and After School Academies. Program Quality and Evaluation -- The VISTA Member will assist the Manager of Program Quality and Evaluation to implement data-driven, quality assurance measures across Higher Achievement centers. The VISTA member will be responsible for creating and maintaining systems that help train Higher Achievement mentors, full-time staff, and summer teachers; edit and finalize a standardized curriculum that can be implemented in all 12 achievement centers, and streamline data collection and reporting. Ultimately, the VISTA will help Higher Achievement use data proactively to prevent academic decline and encourage academic achievement in all of our scholars.
Core Model Research and Development - As Higher Achievement grows, the core model is continually tested. The core model (what we do and why) is based on researched based best practices, which are also continually changing and deepening. This also has large implications for funding through grants both locally and nationally when proven strategies can be demonstrated. However, our capacity to continue revisions is limited, which may impact development efforts in the future. The VISTA will conduct research on our core model to highlight areas for improvement, connect research with practice, and develop sustainable funding partners.
Community Development (Positions in Richmond, Pittsburgh, and Baltimore) -- Community Development VISTA's will build relationships with external partners established in the community in order to build the capacity of our newest achievement centers and to help firmly plant roots in the community.
