Job Description: 

Democrats for Education Reform (DFER) is seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Communications Coordinator and Web Editor to manage and develop content for our online systems. This is an entry-level position that calls for strong writing, copyediting, and web based skills, such as database management and graphic design. The position is set to begin in June 2013 and will be based in Washington, D.C.

Title: Communications Coordinator and Web Editor

Reporting to the Director of Communications, the Communications Coordinator and Web Editor is responsible for the following:

• Updating DFER's website

• Sending out email blasts

• Managing online systems including: email, social media, and press

• Editing website content and related materials

• Tracking state and national press hits

• Providing technical support for online systems

• Tracking and producing reports on web, email, and social media analytics

• Producing design materials for various DFER projects and related web content including: policy reports, infographics, campaign logos, etc.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor's Degree in related field

• Excellent written and oral communication skills

• Strong editing skills

• In-depth knowledge of social media systems

• Attention to detail

• Ability to be a self-starter

• Experience with Adobe Creative Suite, particularly InDesign and Illustrator

• Knowledge of education policy and politics

Bonus Points Awarded For:

• Video editing skills

• Knowledge of SEO and web/social media advertising

• Sense of humor
