KIPP DC is looking for a Grants Manager to join our Development Team.  Below is the job description and application instructions.

ORGANIZATION OVERVIEW:

POSITION OVERVIEW:

KIPP DC seeks an experienced Grants Manager to join the KIPP DC Development Team.  The Grants Manager is responsible for identifying, applying for and managing a variety of grants – both public and philanthropic, as well as developing relationships with funders.  This position reports into the VP of External Affairs and works closely with the other members of the Development Team.  She/he will also collaborate closely with cross-functional peers from other teams such as Finance and our Capital Teaching Residency program. 

 

 KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

·        Acquire and maintain sound knowledge and understanding of KIPP DC; use that knowledge and understanding to better comprehend all projects and programs for which grants will be sought and to identify and recommend grant opportunities.

·        Develop and deepen relationships with grant-making organizations through outreach, events and networking.   Liaise with  grant-making organizations during their review of a submitted grant application in order to be able to supply additional supportive material.

·        Compile, write, and edit all grant applications, exhibiting strong expository writing skills and an extraordinary command of grammar and spelling.

·        Compile and prepare budget overviews for grant proposals.

·        Conduct research and interviews with colleagues to ensure that grant proposals accurately reflect the project or program for which funding is sought.

·        Identify grant-making organizations and likely funding sources for specific projects and programs.

·        Review the budget of a project or program for which funding is sought and make recommendations to better present it to grant making organizations.

·        Develop individual grant proposals in accordance with each grant making organization's preferences and follow exactly each grant making organization's guidelines.

·        Manage the process of preparing and delivering progress reports when required by a grant making organization that has funded a project or program.

QUALIFICATIONS:

·        Exemplary writing, editing, and verbal communication skills

·        Bachelor's degree required

·        Minimum of 3 years of fundraising, grant writing, and/or communications experience preferred

·        Extremely detailed, strategically minded and ability to meet numerous deadlines

·        Strong interpersonal skills and ability to market KIPP DC to funders and partners

·        High degree of professionalism while maintaining complete confidentiality

·        Ability to work as part of a team and manage multiple tasks at one time

·        Highly-motivated and self-directed learner with a "whatever it takes" attitude

·        A passion for education and a desire to help KIPP DC grow

·        Flexibility, tenacity, high quality work, resourcefulness, teamwork, and a sense of humor

·        Proficiency with Microsoft Office software

·        Working knowledge of Raiser's Edge or similar prospect databases
