WHAT IS YEAR UP?
Year Up raises low-income, urban young adults from poverty to professional careers in only one year through an intensive and proven workforce development program.
Our mission is to close the "Opportunity Divide" – the divide which separates those who have access to education, resources, and livable-wage employment from those who do not. We achieve this mission through a high support, high expectation model that combines marketable job skills, stipends, internships and college credits. Our holistic approach focuses on students' professional and personal development to place these young adults on a viable path to economic self-sufficiency.
WHAT IS THE YEAR UP YPN?
The Year Up YPN is a vast network of incredible young professionals from various sectors in the Washington, DC region who have come together to help support and change the lives of low-income young adults.
WHAT DOES THE YPN DO?
The goal of the YPN is to help Year Up National Capital Region serve talented young adults, who deserve access to jobs and opportunity, to the best of our ability. The YPN helps to create and connect resources, generates buzz and visibility, and serves as ambassadors of Year Up's great work. Activities have included social media campaigns, events and fundraisers, professional clothing drives for our students, etc.
The YPN is a wonderful opportunity to build your network in DC, build your professional brand, acquire leadership skills, enhance your resume, and serve your community!
