[dcab-l] Calling anyone who can play a mandolin!

We are going to attempt to Take Back the Guinness World's Record for the Largest Mandolin Ensemble in the history of the world. We broke the record at the Galax Fiddler's Convention on August 7th of 2012 with 389 mandolin players. Unfortunately, since that time out record was beaten by a group in Greece who had 414 mandolins.

So this year at the Galax Fiddler's Convention we will be attempting to take back the record to Virginia and to Team USA on Tuesday, August 4th on the bleachers of the Galax Fiddler's Convention. That Tuesday evening is the mandolin contest, so hopefully many mandolin players will already be there. We really need every person who can play a mandolin in the region to come on out, or to come in for the event, even if they are not in from region.

One of the lucky participants will win a brand new Eastman mandolin. Also if we do break the World's Record, any participant can email away to Guinness and get an official certificate for their wall showing that they hold a world's record.

Only 4 very basic tunes are needed. They are Soldier's joy in the key of D, Angeline the Baker in the key of D, Cripple Creek in the key of A, and Old Joe Clark in the key of A.

Please share the info around as much as possible!

I also can email anyone a flier with all the info to anyone who might be able to print one our and put it up or who might be able to post any on line on website, facebook pages, emails etc.

Thanks,
