The International Project Coordinator (I) works on proposal development and production activities for the Latin America and Caribbean region. The position reports to the Director of English for Latin America (ELA). This is a part-time position (50%) with the potential for full-time work in the future.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS - The person in this position is expected to communicate clearly and courteously; to develop and maintain positive relationships with clients, consultants, collaborators, co-workers, field sites, and funders; and to work respectfully with EDC colleagues. The job requires adherence to EDC policies & procedures.
- Support the proposal development process by researching and providing technical contributions on topics relevant to basic education in Latin America and the Caribbean,
- Assist in the production of an audio-based English language-learning program for Spanish speakers, which might include script revision, language accuracy check, and overseeing a team of 4-5 staff members
- Search for suitable partners for the implementation of education initiatives in Latin America, which might include outreach to potential partners, preparing presentations, assisting in proposal writing, translating correspondence (English/Spanish)
- Schedule appointments and meetings; manage calendars and expense reports; and make travel arrangements
- Assist in scheduling and planning events, such as meetings and presentations, which may include coordinating arrangements for participants, handling logistics, and preparing and disseminating materials
- Perform administrative, programmatic, and analytical tasks in support of the Program Director
- Support the proposal development process by researching and providing technical contributions on topics relevant to basic education in Latin America and the Caribbean,
- Prepares proposal budgets and works collaboratively with IDD and OSP staff to review budget and cost proposal for final submission.
- Works with contracting office on the preparation of new contracts
- Drafting or translating of published materials in English and Spanish
- Assist in identification, recruitment, and coordination of technical consultants
- Meet with potential partners and donors including IDB, USAID, and World Bank on new proposal development.
- Budget tracking of active projects including cash flow forecasting and pipeline projections
- Submission of routine wire transfer requests to Accounting department for timely disbursement to project field offices.
- Management of administrative duties including the fielding of consultants, travel arrangements and reconciliation of travel expense reports
- Researching, compiling, and synthesizing information relevant to the efficient functioning of the International Development Division
- Maintain records on procurement initiatives
- Submit spending reports of overhead budgets on a monthly basis; submission of cost transfers if necessary to correct inaccurate coding to overhead accounts
- Contribute ideas for improved efficiency or future focus of office operations and procedures
- Manage the project contact database for over 30 active projects in more than 25 countries, generate reports using Microsoft Access and google documents
- May be expected to travel
- Excellent Spanish/English written and communication skills; Spanish native speaker and Portuguese language knowledge a plus
- Passionate commitment to education
- Knowledge of public and private entities that work on education projects in Latin America (e.g. Ministries of Education, Secretaries of Education, NGOs, IDB, World Bank, etc.)
- Attention to detail, problem solver, capacity to meet deadlines, and commitment to customer service
- Capacity to work as part of a team, as well as independently
- Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint and cloud services (Google drive, Dropbox, Google Docs)
- Bachelors degree in Education or related field. Masters degree desired.
- Interest in audio recording and sound editing
- Experience working with ProTools
- Experience related to and knowledge of English as a Foreign Language (EFL) language acquisition
