[YEP-DC] Job Postings: Regional Manager at Washington, DC -June 4, 2015

The Scholar Academies regional school management structure requires clear and aligned systems to ensure a smooth operations.  The Regional Manager coordinates execution of the regional strategy and will perform a wide range of organizational duties to support the region and organization in achieving the strategic, academic and operational goals.

 

The Regional Manager will support the region in executing strategy in service of school outcomes. The Manager will work closely with the National Core Services and Foundational Practices teams to leverage and translate national practices in finance, HR and compliance to the region. Additionally, the Regional Manager will work to support the Regional Board of Directors in maintaining their fiduciary obligations.

 

The ideal candidate for this role is highly organized and a systematic thinker.  Additionally, the ideal candidate will have strong problem-solving skills and be able to see issues both from a micro- and a macro-perspective.  The candidate will view challenges as opportunities and demonstrates flexibility in order to support the attainment of regional goals. Most importantly, the ideal candidate will have a genuine commitment to improving public education and supporting our students.



Regional Operations and Project Management  

  • Execute systems that ensure effective regional operations and coordination of the Regional Team
  • Support the Deputy Regional Director's core, regional initiatives (including long-term planning, scalability, policy, process, and aligned resources)
  • Research and support the establishment of regional procedures to ensure compliance with national policies
  • Provide direct support to the Regional Associate Director of School Operations around authorizer compliance and key school initiatives
  • Manage requirements and tracking of various projects related to regional operations: renewal & expansion, regional management contracts and budget
  • Ensure consistent and strategic cross-collaboration with necessary stakeholders related to each project, including network-level teams (Core Services, Foundational Practices, other Regional Team members)
  • Institute an archiving system for projects that ensure resources from these projects are accessible to various parties (network, school, internal, external)

Academic Coordination

  • Provide direct support to the Director of Program around key school initiatives and the set up and ongoing administration of school-based assessment systems
  • Support the planning, logistics and data wrap up around regional professional development and team days

Compliance & Reporting

  • Support the process to ensure that schools are in compliance with all local, state, federal requirements including research, networking and communication
  • Provide system and design support for anticipating, compiling, and tracking compliance and reporting requirements
  • Manage the submission of all state and local reports

Human Resources

  • Support employees with HR-related items, including healthcare plan renewal, open enrollment, BOY/EOY processing questions and concerns and leave of absence
  • Support core services team with regional employee files, including system maintenance and annual audit
  • Create and utilize master staff lists to set up regional evaluation processes and templates, monitor progress towards completion and problem solve around technical issues with regional team member and school leaders

External Relations

  • Deliver logistical and marketing support for special fundraising and donor cultivation events, including fund-raisers, friend-raisers and donor appreciation events
  • Provide logistical support for Board related events and meetings 


Qualifications

  • At least two years of work experience, preferably in an urban education organization
  • Bachelor's degree required
  • Desire to be a part of a outcomes-driven team
  • Superior attention to detail
  • Relentless drive towards results
  • Adaptability and the demonstrated ability to excel when faced with multiple competing priorities
  • Proven ability to design (from content to implementation strategy) and refine school-wide systems
  • Exceptional organization, project management and data analysis skills
  • Demonstrated ability to build relationships with people at all levels and background through various modes of communication
  • Ability to approach challenges in creative ways and finds thoughtful solutions. 
  • Strong critical thinking skills
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal and team-building skills
  • Proven, effective use of Microsoft office, specifically excel
  • Demonstrated ability to meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment
  • Successful experience working in a diverse organization or community
  • Passion for education reform and a commitment to closing the achievement gap between racial, ethnic and economic groups
