[dcab-l] 2015 River and Roots Festival June 26-27 at Watermelon Park Campground in Berryville, VA

The 2015 River and Roots Festival featuring The David Grisman Sextet will be held June 26-27 at Watermelon Park Campground in Berryville, VA.

Now in its 2nd year, River and Roots is a family-friendly music festival created by Shepherds Ford Productions to benefit the Shenandoah Riverkeeper. In addition to great music, the festival offers workshops, demonstrations, and activities that promote sustainable environmental practices and community building.

Music:

The David Grisman Sextet, Town Mountain, Pat Donohue, Danny Knicely with Wyatt Rice & Mark Schatz, Furnace Mountain, The Woodshedders, The Hillbilly Gypsies, The White Top Mountain Band, Greg Ruby, The Hot Seats, Matt Jones and the Bobs, Split String Soup, and the Brandy Station Company.

Workshops, Demonstrations, & Activities:

-   Cheese making demonstration and local farmer summit and market presented by Georges Mill Farm

-   Educational Shenandoah River boat float (1.5 miles) guided by Joshua Bearman

-   Jazz guitar workshop with Greg Ruby

-   Watershed Heroes demonstration promoting ways to improve stream health presented by the Piedmont Environmental Council

-   Wildlife photography workshop and first annual River & Roots photo contest, Inspiration from the Natural World, presented by The Downstream Project

Kids Activities - 12 and under get it free:

-   You and the Watershed You Live In-  hands-on, interactive activity presented by The Friends of the Shenandoah River

-   Epic Youth Folk Music Showcase for talented young singers and instrumentalists ages 0-7 and 8-12. Top performers in each bracket win a delicious pie from Knoll's Farmers Market!!
