[YEP-DC] JOB POSTING: Recruitment Manager at The Literacy Lab

POSITION:  The Literacy Lab is seeking a dynamic, entrepreneurial, outgoing full-time Recruitment Manager. This position is an excellent opportunity to help create and implement a national recruiting strategy for a fast-growing, high-performing nonprofit. The Recruitment Manager is responsible for sourcing, attracting, and hiring a committed, talented, and diverse corps of full-time tutors for The Literacy Lab's Reading Corps programs in Washington DC, Virginia, Maryland, and Missouri each school year.


ABOUT THE LITERACY LAB: The Literacy Lab is a fast-paced, Washington, DC-based non-profit organization whose mission is to provide low-income children with individualized reading instruction to improve their literacy skills, leading to greater success in school and increased opportunities in life. We partner with school districts to add capacity in high-need schools to close the literacy achievement gap for children before third grade.


RESPONSIBILITIES: The Recruitment Manager, who is based in Washington, DC and reports to the Reading Corps Program Director, is responsible for the following:

  • Building relationships with universities and relevant nonprofit organizations to create long-term pipelines of high-quality candidates for placement in programs in Washington DC, Virginia, Maryland, and Missouri.
  • Creating recruitment materials targeting a variety of audiences.
  • Developing creative approaches to attract hard-to-reach populations.
  • Managing the screening and interview process for 500+ applicants from around the country each year.
  • Collaborating with program staff to support local recruitment in multiple geographic locations.
  • Serving as an ambassador for The Literacy Lab.
  • Planning and conducting information sessions in the community.
  • Ensuring that the recruitment process complies with all AmeriCorps guidelines.
QUALIFICATIONS: We are seeking candidates with:
  • A deep commitment to closing the achievement gap.
  • Ability to connect with and motivate others.
  • A track record of persistence, taking initiative, and relentlessly pursuing results.
  • Self-starter with strong problem-solving skills, an entrepreneurial growth mindset, and a can-do attitude.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Outgoing personality; strong oral and written communication skills and comfortable engaging with a variety of audiences.
  • Access to a car is a requirement of this position; some travel required.
  • Bachelor's Degree (at minimum)

COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS:

 

Compensation is competitive and dependent on experience. This position offers a flexible work environment, health and dental insurance, and paid vacation.
