Bluegrass Night at Common Ground on the Hill

The bluegrass instructors of the DC Bluegrass Union Summer Camp at Traditions Week come out to play! Hear Tony Trischka, Claire Lynch, Russ Barenberg, Danny Knicely, Rickie Simpkins, and Marshall Wilborn all on the same stage for one night of spectacular music. Tickets $10 at the door. This concert is part of the nightly Staff Concert series at Common Ground on the Hill Traditions Weeks. All concerts are open to the public.


18th Common Ground on the Hill Roots Music & Arts Festival 
Sat-Sun, July 11-12
Gates open at 10 AM

Bluegrass, blues, Celtic, old-time, Americana, West African, Native American, folk, rock, and World music and dance on 3 stages. Headliners include Grammy nominee and International Blues Hall of Famers Professor Louie & the Crowmatix, Grammy nominees and International Bluegrass Music Association 2014 Instrumental Group of the Year Frank Solivan & Dirty Kitchen, Bruce Molsky of the Transatlantic Sessions, Grammy Award winning vocalist Mollie O'Brien (sister of Tim) with RIch Moore, Footworks Percussive Dance, and many more! Yoga in the morning, juried arts and crafts, beer/wine garden, free parking, and lots of shade! Single day and weekend passes available.

Common Ground on the Town

After the close of the Common Ground on the Hill Roots Music & Arts Festival on Saturday, musicians leave the Festival grounds and move out into the city of Westminster to play the night away! Located at 6 venues in downtown Westminster, each within easy walking distance of the others. Musicians and venues include: Tim Jenkins Quartet (jazz) at the Carroll Arts Center; Wherligig (Celtic) at O'Lordans; Eastman String Band (alt-grass) at the Westminster Public Library (bring a blanket or lawn chair); Christopher James (electric blues) at Johanssons, Harry Orlove with the Eric Byrd Trio (jazz) at Rafael's; and Baltimore Red Trio (acoustic blues) at Maggie's.
