Make a Difference in a Young Person's Educational Future! Volunteer Tutors Needed to Work with Adolescent Students in Adams Morgan.
-- For Love of Children's one-on-one tutoring program helps students achieve grade-level competency in reading and math. In just 3 and a half months of consistent tutoring, students improve an average of 1 year in reading and math skills while gaining confidence in their abilities. Each new tutor allows us to impact the life of one more child. Training in our structured curricula and ongoing support from professional staff are provided. The commitment is only 2.5 hours once a week for the school year,
In particular, we're currently in great need of tutors to work in our Saturday Afternoon Reading program with students in middle and high school. We'll be holding a combined training and orientation day on Saturday, November 8th (orientation from 11:30-12:30, training from 1:00-5:00) and we'd love to welcome YOU!
Additional volunteer tutoring opportunities are available on Saturday mornings in Adams Morgan and Congress Heights, weekday afternoons in Columbia Heights and Eastern Market/Barracks Row, and Thursday evenings in Adams Morgan.
Get started by completing an application online and/or contacting me at emetz@floc.org or 202-349-3512 to sign up for the November 8th sessions.
We hope you'll join us in our mission to teach, empower, and transform the lives of students in DC this year!
