Position Overview

The Office of Family and Public Engagement (OFPE) is responsible for DCPS's work to engage parents, families and the community in our students' learning, the improvement of our schools, and DCPS's planning and decision-making. Our four core areas of work are:

 

1.       Family and community engagement;

2.       Community partnerships;

3.       School level family engagement; and

4.       Communications

 

The School Partnerships division seeks to provide strategic supports to school and district leaders in order to maximize the impact that external stakeholders have on student success. Some of the division's major initiatives include:  providing DCPS's lowest-performing 40 schools with strategic guidance to refine, align and strengthen partnerships; consult on key partnerships managed at the central office level; facilitate purposeful connections between community stakeholders (partners, volunteers, donors etc.) and DCPS leaders that support shared goals to advance student success; manage the donation process for gifts made at a district-level; and support and/or manage select district-wide events.

 

The Coordinator, School Partnerships is responsible for supporting planning and implementation efforts for new and existing school-based partnerships. The Coordinator will coordinate supports for DCPS schools in order to maximize the impact external stakeholders have on achieving school goals.  This position will work closely with external stakeholders and central office/school based staff to identify opportunities for collaboration, facilitate meaningful connections between leaders, and support the on-going efforts across these partnerships. The Coordinator will support the School Partnerships Team by implementing partner coordination systems, analyzing data to identify trends and opportunities, and developing best practice tools that will enhance the impact external stakeholders will have on student success.

 

 The Coordinator, School Partnerships will report to the Director, School Partnerships.

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

The below statements are intended to describe the general nature and scope of work being performed by this position. This is not a complete listing of all responsibilities, duties, and/or skills required. Other duties may be assigned.

·         Coordinates school-level partnerships for key stakeholders involved—including central staff, school-based staff, community members, and families—towards shared goals around student success.

·         Contributes to the development and execution of district-wide partnerships strategies through data collection, analysis, and best practice research and sharing.

  • Builds relationships and liaises with various external and internal stakeholders to drive collaboration through strong communication skills and the ability to build networks of support.

·         Designs and administers a new process for reviewing partnership requests and facilitating next steps.

·         Assists Director of School Partnerships in achieving team goals, ranging from coordinating partnership fairs to generating new opportunities that accelerate partnership impact on DCPS goals.

·         Works under tight deadlines in a fast-paced environment with multiple responsibilities; and responds in a timely manner to urgent requests that may arise from DCPS stakeholders.

 

Qualifications

·         Bachelor's degree and two to four years of related work experience.

·         Master's degree preferred.

·         Previous exposure to or experience in the education sector a plus.

·         Proven track record in fostering relationships with a diverse stakeholders, preferably with school-based staff and/or communities.

·         Proven track record in project coordination, including all steps from initial goal setting to successful project execution.

·         Exceptional interpersonal skills with an ability to align diverse perspectives to achieve shared goals.

·         Excellent written, oral and visual communication skills. Ability to communicate effectively under tight deadlines and in spontaneous situations.

·         Results-orientation coupled with strong work ethic and a desire to constantly seeking to grow skills and mindsets.

·         Excellent attention to detail and professionalism.

·         Ability to exercise good judgment in quickly dealing with difficult situations and unexpected challenges

·         Strong Excel and PowerPoint skills
