[YEP-DC] JOB OPPORTUNITY: Tutoring Manager

Overview

Fast track your career while making the difference in the lives of thousands of children by joining a quickly-growing team that's on the cutting edge of education. No experience in education? No problem. No recruiting experience? We'll teach you.

We're looking for someone who:

·         Is an a-player. You are driven to be the best. You challenge yourself by setting goals, crushing them, and helping your teammates do the same.

·         Works efficiently. You're a master multi-tasker. You can talk, type, walk, and chew gum all at the same time. Juggling multiple projects at once inspires you rather than causing stress.

·         Learns quickly. You don't need to be an education expert to work here, but you do need to be intellectually curious and genuinely interested in the world of education and aiding others to be industry experts.

·         Is Solution-Oriented. You see obstacles as opportunities. You are naturally someone who takes initiative and aren't afraid to speak up and present new ideas and bold solutions.

·         Likes working with people. You genuinely like people and want to help make their jobs better.

What you'll do all day:

·         Recruit the best. We're not interested in churning the hiring wheel, but rather in finding the best of the best. Finding these people is hard work and requires screening resumes, scheduling group interviews, and using your best judgment. You need to come ready to recruit aggressively every day.

·         Organize top-notch training opportunities. We don't need someone who is an expert in education; but rather someone who is a freak about organization. A vast majority of the job will be organizing and facilitating training events that fit the needs of our tutor pool.

·         Communicate companies' solutions accurately. We want our tutors to be able to pick up the conversation with parents exactly where our sales team left off. To accomplish this goal, we need someone who can coach tutors through tough situations and advise them on company-driven strategies.

How we'll know if you're successful in the role:

·         Recruiting. We want someone who can think outside of the box when it comes to recruiting. You'll be evaluated based on how many resumes you receive, how many quality interviews you're scheduling, and how many a-player tutors you are hiring on a weekly basis.

·         Training. In addition to training new tutors, you will be expected to coordinate one staff development opportunity a month for our pool of 200 tutors.

·         Placement and Utilization. Once tutors are fully hired and trained, you will working with our sales team to help get them matched with students. It will be your responsibility to make sure that each tutor is working the minimum four hours per week.

·         Performance Management. Aside from the tutor's annual review, which you will be managing in June, you will check in with each tutor at least once a month providing feedback to help support the tutor.

Key Competencies (What Any Applicant Needs to Bring to the Table)

·         Organization

·         Resourcefulness

·         Likability

·         Strong communication skills

A Few Reasons Why You Might Hate It:

·         You like to focus on one thing at a time. We have to be honest, we're a small company and every team member wears a myriad of hats. If juggling isn't something you do well, this might not be the match for you.

·         Organization isn't your thing. We have a tutor pool of over 200 kick-butt educators, and that leads to a lot of back-end work on our part. It would be your job to know who those 200 people are and to manage their paperwork when necessary. If you weren't color-coding in elementary school, this probably isn't your dream gig.

And a few reasons why you might love it:

·         You'll grow and learn a ton. You'll become a better business person as you immerse yourself in the world of education and entrepreneurship.

·         The work environment is amazing. We're big on both location and easy commuting. Our Fairfax office sits in the heart of downtown Fairfax with a number of restaurants and shops close by. Plus, we're right off of 123, route 50, and right off of 66, so the commute is about as easy as it gets in the DC area.

·         The team is even more amazing. You'd be hard-pressed to find a more fun, energetic, and creative group of people.  Truthfully, the majority of us are Type-A to the core, but we have a lot of fun. Trivia nights, company National games, happy hours, a fitness club, etc.

·         Fantastic benefits. For our full-time employees, Educational Connections offers health insurance, a 401k retirement plan with company match, four weeks paid vacation time, an end of the year bonus, and paid holidays.

·         Your success will be recognized and appreciated. You'll be able to see your direct impact on our growth. You won't be just another cog in the wheel.
