The See Forever Foundation and Maya Angelou Public Charter School (MAPCS) in Washington, D.C. is seeking a part-time unpaid Intern to work with our Finance Manager. The Intern will work between 20 and 30 hours a week depending on availability and workload.
Specific responsibilities will include, but not be limited to:
- ·Assist with all AP and AR transactions
- ·Serve as primary point of contact for vendors
- · Assist with audit preparation, including gathering needed documentation to ensure a smooth audit process
- Assist with financial reports, reconciliations, and forecasting
- Assist with board financial reports
- Assist with grants applications, budget creation and grants reports
- ·Other related tasks as needed
Qualifications
The successful candidate must be able to work in a very busy interactive environment with frequent interruptions and to perform tasks accurately and quickly. Additional qualifications include:
· High school graduate/GED required
· Student currently pursuing a bachelor's or master's degree in finance/accounting preferred
· Strong attention to detail to maintain accuracy in all work needed
· Knowledge of administrative and clerical procedures
· Advanced computer skills in Excel and Word
· Friendly, outgoing and positive attitude strongly desired
· Experience in professional office environment is a plus
· Excellent verbal and written communication skills
· Ability to organize and strong multi-tasking ability is a must
· Self-starter with outstanding initiative and responsibility
· Strong interpersonal and team-building skills
· Desire to grow personally and professionally desired
This is an unpaid internship position. This internship will be between 20 and 30 hours per week, lasting until May 31, 2014 with the possibility of renewal or extension of the agreement. We will work with the chosen candidate to create a mutually beneficial schedule.
