Kid Power is seeking dedicated and passionate Site Coordinators for the upcoming school year.
Position Description: The Site Coordinator is responsible for program implementation, classroom management, teacher, parent communication, and occasional development and capacity building of the organization.
Schedule:
15 hours a week
3PM-6PM Monday - Thursday, 12PM-3PM Friday
Position is from now until Mid May with the possibility of being extended.
Training will occur in January.
Responsibilities:
Program Implementation:
- Orchestrate a highly structured, effective classroom setting to maximize student learning and satisfaction.
- Help manage and teach enrichment classes (art, drama, dance, gardening, service-learning, advocacy, cooking, etc.
- Facilitate youth learning by guiding youth to think critically
- Maintain a daily schedule and classroom rules and procedures
- Implement a behavioral management and incentive program
- Provide positive reinforcement and help promote youth's self -esteem
- Coordinate and manage weekly field trip and swimming activities
- Provides logistical support (snack delivery, transportation, etc)
Administrative:
- Communicate regularly with parents, teachers, and other community partners
- Complete weekly report and student progress reports for each student
- Participate in weekly staff meetings
- Maintain daily student attendance records and make phone calls home to parents of absent youth
- Occasional participation in fundraising initiatives and capacity building
Qualifications:
- Passion for youth development
- Knowledge of classroom structure and systems
- Patience and a good sense of humor
- Excellent communication skills
- Ability to work well in a team setting
- Ability to adapt quickly in adverse situations
- Ability to manage a classroom
- Gardening/passion for nutrition and health is a PLUS
- Spanish speaking also a PLUS
