Sales Associate
Job Summary
The Sales Associate serves as a Territory Sales Manager and is responsible for development of an assigned geographic territory in K-12 education – public and private. Territory development includes opening new business opportunities and teaming with strategic market managers to expand success at the state and foundation level. The position is located in our Arlington, VA office and is a direct contributor sales position. The core mission of the Sales Associate is to grow revenue from the assigned territory by exceeding quota targets. Essential Functions/Responsibilities
- Drive aggressive sales by actively managing and reporting on pipeline, status of the business, and forecast revenue
- Meet and/or exceed monthly, quarterly, and annual sales quotas
- Make outgoing sales calls seeking new clients
- Handle incoming calls and successfully answer questions from customers and prospects
- Build and maintain client relationships through attentive customer service in order to grow the sales in your territory through referrals, etc.
- Utilize CRM (SalesForce.com) to document and plan for sales success
- Thoroughly document all CRM activity daily
- Conduct a minimum of 15 sales presentations (primarily online) on a monthly basis that are new, first time meetings with territory prospects
- Participate positively and actively in weekly, monthly and annual sales meetings and company functions as appropriate
- Maintain a close rate of at least 30% after 6 months in territory
Required Knowledge, Abilities, and Skills
Knowledge of: Sales processes, CRM (SalesForce.com preferred), Territory management, Software or Services based solutions, Consultative Selling Skills, Web-based presentation tools (i.e. WebEx, LiveMeeting, adobe connect, etc.)
Ability to: develop and manage a territory and sales plan to achieve required sales objectives
Skill in: identifying opportunity, moving prospects through a documented process, and effectively communicating company solutions verbally and in writing
Minimum Qualifications
An appropriate combination of education, training, course work and experience may qualify an applicant to demonstrate the required knowledge, skills, and abilities. An example of an acceptable qualification for this position is:
- Bachelor's degree required
- Intelligent Software/Technology sales performer with successful Education or related marketplace experience
- 2+ years' experience in a sales role, years as a front-runner, groundbreaker and overall sales leader a plus; a minimum 2 years of demonstrated sales success with technology offerings in a K-12 education, business to business, business to education market preferred
- Able to communicate about company vision and solutions as well as match specific customer requirements to those visions, delivering on the promise of the vision
- Proven experience developing customer solutions
- Understand how to leverage relationships in support of sales, referrals
- Consultative Solutions-Orientation with ability to craft and communicate a value proposition as products and solutions expand which aligns with strategic initiatives of schools and school districts
- Experience with CRM tools – preferably Salesforce.com
- Demonstrated ability to build and manage pipeline to meet both short- and long-term sales goals
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
- Organizational skills
- Ability to present product benefits in a clear and enthusiastic manner
- Proficient in Microsoft Office programs and Web meeting tools
- Ability to adapt to change and multi-task
- Experience uncovering and evaluating new opportunities
- Excellent communication and presentation skills required
- Ability to document identity and employment eligibility
