[dcab-l] Help Break a Guinness Book World's Record!

On Tuesday, August 7th at 2 PM we will be trying to break the Guinness Book World's Record for the "Largest Mandolin Ensemble" ever- at the Galax Fiddler's Convention in Galax, Virginia.
http://www.oldfiddlersconvention.com/

Those interested should report with their mandolins (and extras if you have some) around 1 PM to the Main Stage area of the Fiddler's Convention the day of the event.

The current world's record was made in Germany on July 18, 2005 and that standing record is 383 mandolin players. We should be able to blow that out of the water!

If the participants of the Galax attempt are successful in setting a new world's record Eastman Strings will be giving away a brand new Eastman mandolin to one of the lucky mandolin participants as well as some other fun prizes.

There are only 4 tunes needs and one can play either melody or chords and we will play them old time style like a mandolin orchestra so no need for fancy breaks etc. I'd dare say most guitar and fiddle players can do these tunes on a mando with little effort. Shoot, I bet even the banjo players can do these tunes on a mando. ;)

Here they are
Old Joe Clark (in key of A)
Cripple Creek (in A)
Angeline the Baker (in D)
Soldier's Joy (in D)

Please spread the word to those who may have an interest too (post it, share it, email it, etc)
