[BloomingdaleActionList] Steps for getting a backwater valve, sump pump & Plumber

Hi All,

Please pass this information to anyone experiencing back flow problems with sewage.  This is information for purchasing the materials and plumber contact information.  The first plumber has already installed 3 or 4 on Thomas street with good results.  I think the total price for backwater valve and labour will be around $500, but I'm not sure--you will need to speak with the plumber to get definite labour cost.  The price to install is cheaper if you want to do some digging.

You should install something like this on your main sewer line:

could be bought here:

And you need a sump pump at the front and back door

Willy is a very good plumber and can install it.

Another good plumber in case Willie gets too busy:

They interviewed 2 DC water guys who were in the hood- think one was Mr. Briggs, they both had titles - didn't pay a lot of attention, but they showed guys actually going down into the sewer line.

It is just amazing that it took this long to get some real action, and not just reports that all the drains were clean.

Did anyone see tonight's NBC 6:00 news?  They said they would be covering Bloomingdale and the response from the city/DC Water.  I'm still in my office, so wondering if they truely did cover it.

Thanks,

Mark
