SUMMARY:                    

The Program Specialist provides general support to overall program efficiency and effectiveness of Academic and Evening Programs in coordination with Government Training and Professional Development, with a primary focus on being responsive to instructor, student, Graduate School staff and client needs. The position reports to the Dean of Management Program.

 

 KEY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

·         Work closely with the Dean in developing and implementing departmental plans (e.g. curriculum development, program review and accreditation, learning outcomes assessment at the course and program levels) and coordination with Government Training and Professional Development staff and programs.

·         Assist with the process of hiring faculty.

·         Work closely with all Deans and the Registrar in the deployment of courses in the Evening and Academic Programs, including preparation of the publications, ordering of books and materials, sharing observations about program development opportunities, identifying potential instructors, and other related tasks.

·         Assist in marketing, student recruitment, student retention, and resource development efforts.

·         Confirm faculty teaching assignments for Academic and Evening courses.

·         Troubleshoot problems for faculty and students, particularly during the first week of classes, and respond to routine instructor and student questions.

·         Document all faculty and student concerns and systematically communicate them   to the appropriate Dean.

·         Assume a defined portion of responsibilities that are shared among Program Specialists, such as support for a specific portion of the curriculum, book ordering, updating the Faculty Manual for Evening Programs, updating Advisory Council membership and scheduling their meetings,

·         Manage the course evaluation process, collecting course evaluations and typing the verbatim comments from them.

·         Collect and archive all syllabi and instructor biographies in paper and electronic forms.

·         Update or develop appropriate databases.

·         Prepare faculty agreements, vouchers, and related documents.

·         Assume responsibility for ordering and maintaining equipment and supplies and monitoring inventory control.

·         Participate in the planning and delivery of workshops, conferences and orientation sessions for instructors.

·         Assists in the collection and analyses of department data.

·         Advises students concerning course offerings, requirements, as they relate to student backgrounds, interest and goals.

·         Develops strong working relationships with staff in appropriate areas of Government Training and Professional Development.

·         Perform other duties as assigned.

 

REQUIREMENTS:

·         Very good organizational skills.

·         Excellent interpersonal, oral and written communication skills.

·         Very good computer skills, especially with the Microsoft Office suite of applications.

·         Bachelor's degree in business management or a related field.
