Position: Human Resources Manager
Organization Overview
One World Education (OWEd) is a Washington, DC nonprofit providing middle and high school Common Core-aligned writing programs. OWEd is poised to grow significantly over the coming years and is hiring a skilled Human Resources Manager as a consultant to help with the needs identified below.
Responsibilities
Employee Manual / Handbook· Support development and review of document for approval by legal committee
· Regular review and addition of new policies to ensure reflection of new organizational needs
Financial Reporting
· Manage OWEd's QuickBooks system and produce monthly, quarterly, and annual reports and regular reconciliation of transactions, collecting and scanning receipts/invoices/bank statements
· Coordinate with company accountant
· Consistent delivery of reports
Taxes
· Manage payment of annual and bi-annual filings (fed, DC, and unemployment)
· Create and manage a system in place for collecting/storing W9s, W4s, contracts, etc.
Benefits/ Insurance
· Manage administration of OWEd's health care plan
· Manage organization and payment of OWEd's liability insurance policies.
Business Documentation
· Track and maintain all legal and operational licenses and permits
Payroll
· Manage organization payroll and withholdings
· Produce monthly and quarterly tax forms/payments
· Support OWEd as it builds an hour charting systems for government grant cost allocation needs
Team Member Positions & Formal Contracts
· Support development and tracking of formal descriptions of all full- and part-time team positions for both team members and contractors
Qualifications
· Experience working with nonprofit organizations
• Strong verbal, communication, and writing skills
• Experience leading the HR needs identified
• Understanding of human resources needs for small and emerging nonprofits
Compensation: This is a contractual position with a monthly salary of $800-$1,000
Hours: 20-25 hours per month, with the ability to meet in OWEd's office between 8-10 hours per month
Start Date: June 1, 2015
