About the artists

KYM WARNER is originally from Australia and is a founding member of The Greencards. His band is based in Austin, TX and gained national attention when they supported a multi-state tour with Willie Nelson and Bob Dylan. Kym has penned many of the tracks on The Greencards' five studio albums, the latest receiving a Grammy nomination for Best Folk Album in 2014. Two of Kym's instrumentals on earlier records have also been honored with Grammy nominations.  Kym is a talented multi-instrumentalist displaying virtuoso skills on the mandolin, bouzouki and ukulele. The Greencards are favorites on the festival circuit with appearances at MerleFest, Grey Fox, Austin City Limits, SXSW, Telluride, Bonnaroo, Telluride, Lollapalooza, and the Cayamo cruise to name just a few. Locally, they have performed at The Birchmere, Wolf Trap, Iota, Strathmore and Jammin Java over the years. Their 2011 release, The Brick Album, featured two of the band's musical heroes on separate tracks: Sam Bush and Vince Gill. Here is a video sample of Kym's musicianship. We really like the title for some reasons: "The Bell of Great Falls"

WARREN HOOD has toured extensively as a band member of The Waybacks (a MerleFest fan favorite) and as violinist for world-renowned recording artists, The BoDeans. He has won numerous awards for string virtuosity and has been recognized three times as String Player of the Year in the Austin Chronicle Music Poll. Warren began playing the fiddle at the age of eleven. The son of Austin, TX music legend, Champ Hood (Uncle Walt's Band, Toni Price), he has also become an accomplished multi-instrumentalist, songwriter and singer. Warren attended the Berklee College of Music where he was awarded the school's top honor - The String Achievement Award. The Waybacks have often accompanied former Grateful Dead founder Bob Weir. Warren has also performed and/or recorded with such noteworthy artists as Lyle Lovett, Joan Osborne, Emmylou Harris, Ben Kweller, Little Feet, Elvis Costello, Susan Tedeschi, Gillian Welch, and Alejandro Escovedo. Here is a video sample of Warren's singing and fiddle playing with his acoustic trio: "Northeast Texas Women"
