Position: Program Director
Organization Overview
Are you a current or former ELA or Humanities teacher at the middle or high school level in a DC Public or DC Charter School? Looking to continue and expand your impact as an educator, but want to transition from your role in the classroom? One World Education (OWEd) is the largest school-based writing program in Washington, DC and a nonprofit leader providing middle and high school Common Core-aligned literacy programs. Since 2007, the organization has promoted peer-to-peer learning while helping students build the skills necessary for college and career level writing. OWEd is poised to grow significantly over the coming years and is hiring a personable, passionate, and exceptional educator as its first, full-time Program Director. OWEd's Program Director will be a high-level thought partner and organizational leader.
Leadership Responsibilities: The Program Director leads all aspects of OWEd's programming, including:
Curriculum Development
· Create curriculum resources and oversee Curriculum Development team activities
· Ensure timely completion of all curriculum resources
· Manage development and upkeep of the Research Portal
· Participate in the design and implementation of digitizing the One World Writing Program
Community Management
· Establish and maintain relationships with school community leaders and teachers
· Observe and mentor teachers and offer supports were needed
· Design and lead professional development
· Lead student training sessions for OWEd's two annual program events
· Participate in the design, implementation, and reporting of program evaluations
Expertise & Growth
· Present programming in prospect and partner schools, and at conferences and other education events
· Support development of partnerships with education organizations to leverage exposure and audience
· Support establishment of organization as an innovative thought leader in the academic community
· Promote organization's expertise through publishing and social media
Qualifications
• Masters in education or relevant field of study
• Former or current full-time teacher with a minimum of three years experience with leading research and writing projects
• Experience leading curriculum development, professional development, and evaluation
• Demonstration of successful building of relationships with district, administration, and classroom teaching professionals
• Strong verbal, communication, and writing skills
• A passion for the ideals and vision of One World Education
Compensation: The position offers a generous employment package.
