MINDS MATTER DC:
Opportunities for
            -rising sophomores
            -volunteer mentors
            -volunteer instructors

Minds Matter is a national organization of volunteers who connect highly motivated high school students from low-income families with mentors and strategic college preparation. We're starting up the DC chapter and are incredibly excited to welcome our first cohort of students this fall!

RISING SOPHOMORES:
We're looking for 10 rising sophomores who are interested in dedicating 4 hours of their week to our program.  It consists of:
  • 2 hours of SAT/ACT preparation and a Writing/Critical Thinking seminar
  • 2 hours of direct access to your personal mentor
  • A short term goal of applying to and being accepted to a competitive academic summer program at a college or prep school (e.g. Columbia, Yale, Exeter or Andover)
  • Financial aid for tuition, travel and housing costs
Students who are admitted to the program then go on to our subsequent junior and senior programs that evolve with them and hold their hands through the college application process. For more information, check us out at www.mindsmatterdc.org or please reach out with any questions you might have.

This really is a wonderful program and a wonderful opportunity.  I hope your students will take advantage of it!   There are only 10 slots, so I recommend spreading the word quickly - the student application link can be found here.

INTERESTED IN TEACHING or MENTORING?
Email Sharon at Podobnik.Sharon@gmail.com with you're resume, a short cover letter, and any questions you might have.  We're looking for 2-4 volunteers to teach SAT level math, reading, writing and critical thinking and 20 mentors to work with our mentees Saturdays during the school year.
