[YEP-DC] LEA Institute for Teachers & Leaders "It Takes a City: DC Does it Best!" Save-the-Date & Call for Proposals

The District of Columbia's Office of the State Superintendent of Education (OSSE) is pleased to announce its final 2014-15 LEA Institute, It Takes a City: DC Does it Best!, to be held May 1-2, 2015, at the Walter E. Washington Convention Center in Washington, DC.


DC teachers, administrators, service providers, parents and families are invited to attend this exciting two-day event.  During the institute, participants will select from a robust menu of breakout sessions and workshops on topics including:

  • Instruction and the Common Core
  • Positive Behavior Supports
  • STEM and the Next Generation Science Standards
  •  Educator Effectiveness
  • Special Populations (instruction for students with disabilities and English Language Learners, related service delivery, secondary transition, etc.)
  • Parent and Family Engagement (including sessions for parents/families, as well as LEA staff)
  • Early Childhood

National practitioners and researchers will provide participants with the latest innovations in the field, including research- and evidence-based practices.  Local practitioners will share evidence-based strategies and practices they have found success with in serving DC students. LEA staff will walk away with new teaching strategies for success in improving outcomes for students in the District. Parent and families will walk away with new strategies for supporting their children in preparing for college and careers. 


There is no registration cost associated with this conference for presenters or participants.
