[BloomingdaleActionList] Fwd: Last chance to sign the pop up moratorium

Neighbors-

Have you signed the petition requesting a moratorium on pop ups? Residents (especially in R-4 zones, such as Bloomingdale) are asking Mayor Bowser for a moratorium until any possible zoning changes can be finalized.

If you live on a large lot between 1st and North Capitol, you might want to take a look at 42 W and see what is happening to that back yard and the neighboring yards.  (Hint: it is looking like the above picture.)

If you have, or are considering, solar panels, you might want to consider the impact of pop ups. Legislation has just been introduced to protect rights for owners of solar panels, but that will take time.

Even if the poor design of many of the  pop ups does not bother you, there are so many stories of bad projects having an adverse affects on the abutting properties and the owners' wallets, that it is heartbreaking. It seems like there are multiple "developers" who buy properties, gut a rowhouse, get a stop work order, and then let the property sit - an eyesore and danger to neighbors.

Zoning changes are taking forever - a moratorium could put the brakes on pop ups until zoning catches up to what is happening in our neighborhood.

Please consider signing the petition - now - while the link is in front of you. Just takes a minute.

And feel free to share.

Thanks.
