We are looking for volunteers to assist the Class of 2015 with college scholarship applications!
On Martin Luther King Jr. Day - Monday January 19th - Thurgood Marshall Academy Public Charter High School is hosting a Scholarship Application Day for seniors. This is an annual event in which seniors meet with community volunteers to work on scholarship and college applications. Volunteers work one-on-one with seniors on the applications and scholarship essays to help brainstorm ideas and edit their writing.
Thurgood Marshall Academy graduates have a track record of college success: 100% of graduating seniors have been accepted to college, and over 90% enroll in college within one year of graduating from high school. Last year, graduates in the Class of 2014 earned over $5.6 million in scholarships, the most in the school's 14-year history.
The event will take place at Thurgood Marshall Academy. Breakfast will be served at 9:30, followed by a work session from 10-12. The school is located at 2427 Martin Luther King Jr Ave SE, directly across the street from the Anacostia metro station on the green line.
