[YEP-DC] Volunteer Opportunity: Become a Posse D.C. Writing Coach!

The Posse Foundation is looking for volunteers to work one-on-one with our recently selected scholars!

 

Our coaches are an essential part of our Writing Program and play such a critical role in helping promote academic excellence to our Posse Scholars.   If you are interested in volunteering during this exciting time of the year, please consider being a writing coach. A full list of responsibilities is included below.

 

 Individual Writing Coach (61 coaches needed) 

 Detailed responsibilities include: 

· Meet with a Scholar once a month for one hour from Late February to July, 2015 at the Posse D.C. office or other public places.

· Help Scholars identify their writing strengths and weaknesses.

· Provide tailored feedback on how Scholars can improve their writing.

· Issue a final "report" of a Scholar's strengths and areas for improvement.

· Help deepen Scholar understanding of the ways writing promotes leadership.

· Provide formal feedback on research paper development, citations, structure and thesis. 

· Writing coaches will also attend a 60 minute orientation, at which the Posse Writing Program manual, as well as, monthly breakdown of six formal writing workshops, will be provided.
