[dcab-l] Songs from the South: Daybreak in Dixie

Music Lovers:

Here's a live Rattlesnake Hill  recording from Cactus Flats on Father's Day, 2013.

"Daybreak in Dixie" is an instrumental written by mandolinist Bill Napier (who also played banjo and guitar).  Along with "Daybreak", Bill wrote and collaborated on many other songs, most of them with Charlie Moore.

Bill got his first break with the Stanley Brothers in the fifties, continued with Charlie Moore and the Dixie Partners during the sixties, and played with many other artists along the way.

This instrumental is a bluegrass standard with no exaggeration; bluegrass groups play it everywhere on the planet!  The Stanley Brothers called this number "Ralph's Banjo Special"

Musicians:

  Garrett Wren          Mandolin

  Barb Diederich        Bass

  John Brunschwyler  Banjo

  Ed Schaeffer           Rhythm Guitar
