Overview
Fast track your career while making the difference in the lives of thousands of children by joining a quickly-growing team that's on the cutting edge of education. No experience in education? No problem, we'll teach you!
We're looking for someone who:
· Is an A-player. You are driven to be the best. You challenge yourself by setting goals, crushing them, and helping your teammates do the same.
· Works efficiently. You're a master multi-tasker. You can talk, type, walk, and chew gum all at the same time. Juggling multiple projects at once inspires you rather than causing stress.
· Is Solution-Oriented. You see obstacles as opportunities. You are naturally someone who takes initiative and aren't afraid to speak up and present new ideas and bold solutions.
· Likes working with people. You genuinely like people and want to help make their lives better.
· Not afraid of rejection. You have a thick skin and you don't back down easily. We're looking for someone who will do whatever it takes to get their foot in the door with the right people.
What you'll do all day:
· Talk to parents and match students with tutors. Let us be clear, this is a sales position but it's a sales position that allows you to make a difference in hundreds of families' lives. To be successful in this role, you need to be driven by sales goals, but you also need to have a warm personality and a strong organization skill set that allows you to place students with the perfect tutor.
· Communicate family's needs accurately. It's essential that you are able to understand what exactly the family is looking for and communicate that with the tutor whom you select for the family.
· Grow New Clients by Building Relationships. We have an excellent reputation in the education community and want to keep it that way. You'll help build relationships with parents, tutors, schools, and professionals in the area so they will refer new students to us.
· Network, network, network. Part of your role will be meeting with professionals in the public and private sector to tell them about Educational Connections and to find out what we can do to help them.
Key Competencies (What Any Applicant Needs to Bring to the Table)
1. Customer Focus
2. Organization
3. Assertiveness
4. Likability
5. Resourcefulness
6. Team Player
A Few Reasons Why You Might Hate It:
· You like to focus on one thing at a time. We have to be honest, we're a small company and every team member wears a myriad of hats. If juggling isn't something you do well, this might not be the match for you.
· Organization isn't your thing. We have a tutor pool of over 200 kick-butt educators and work with 300-600 students at a time. This leads to a lot of back-end work. It would be your job to manage multiple student placements, select the right tutor for those students, and handle all the behind-the-scenes logistics seamlessly.
· You aren't a people person. We want someone warm, who enjoys talking to parents and helping them. Our ideal candidate is warm and enjoys talking to people. Extroversion is a plus!
· Problems intimidate you. When you're the in-between person for 200 tutors and 600 students, problems are bound to arise. If you're someone who isn't a natural problem-solver, you'll have a hard time in this role.
And a few reasons why you might love it:
· You'll make a difference. Nothing will be more satisfying than the first email or phone call you receive from a parent telling you that the tutor you found for their son and daughter literally changed the child's lives.
· The work environment is amazing. We're big on both location and easy commuting. Our Fairfax office sits in the heart of downtown Fairfax with a number of restaurants and shops close by. Plus, we're right off of 123, route 50, and right off of 66, so the commute is about as easy as it gets in the DC area.
· The team is even more amazing. You'd be hard-pressed to find a more fun, energetic, and creative group of people. Truthfully, the majority of us are Type-A to the core, but we have a lot of fun. Trivia nights, company National games, happy hours, etc.
· Fantastic benefits. For our full-time employees, Educational Connections offers health insurance, a 401k retirement plan with company match, four weeks paid vacation time, an end of the year bonus, and paid holidays.
· Your success will be recognized and appreciated. You'll be able to see your direct impact on our growth. You won't be just another cog in the wheel.
Absolute requirements:
· Bachelor's degree
· 2-6 years of experience
· Application submitted with a cover letter (we won't be even opening resumes submitted without a cover letter!)
Up for the challenge? Email allison@ectutoring.com with a copy of your resume and cover letter to apply now.
