Position Overview
The Office of Specialized Instruction's (OSI) vision is for the District of Columbia Public Schools to be the district of choice for students requiring early childhood education, students with disabilities, and English language learners. We serve our students requiring additional supports by providing high-quality instruction and services as close to home as possible and in the timely and consistent manner they deserve.
The Operations division is responsible for developing operational effectiveness for OSI through the management of the following: human capital and administrative services; data, strategy and support; and fiscal accountability measures.
The Analyst, Communications is responsible for knowledge management within the Office of Specialized Instruction that improves customer service, increases employee morale, and fosters innovation and progress. This position requires strong organizational and consortium-building skills.
The Analyst, Communications will report to the Director, Data, Strategy and Support.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
The below statements are intended to describe the general nature and scope of work being performed by this position. This is not a complete listing of all responsibilities, duties, and/or skills required. Other duties may be assigned.
- Creates systems to organize and share content throughout OSI and with key stakeholders including schools, families, and other agencies.
- Coordinates, expands, edits, and updates the Office of Specialized Instruction content on the DCPS website and intra-office website, ensuring clear, relevant, timely communication with staff, parents and other external stakeholders.
- Focuses on developing knowledge management efforts to ensure effective communication of OSI's strategic goals and initiatives.
- Coordinates the calendrical development and publication of key OSI activities, events, and projects.
- Develops, plans, and executes events for the Office of Specialized Instruction and stakeholders.
- Designs and implements data preparation, processing, retrieval and storage systems.
- Coordinates or implements several small or medium-sized projects or components of a larger project; and tracks and reports progress of projects through use of various computer programs and tools.
- Builds relationships and liaises with various internal departments to drive collaboration and project success.
- Interacts with and responds effectively to urgent requests from multiple internal and external DCPS stakeholders.
- Schedules and coordinates program-related meetings, conferences, appointments, and logistics.
- Helps create relevant, compelling messaging for the Office of Specialized Instruction.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree and one to three years of related work experience.
- Master's degree preferred.
- Previous exposure to or experience in the education sector a plus.
