My organization New Community for Children offers academic and social enrichment programming to kids after school and summer. We are celebrating our 25th school year of service in Shaw DC.
We welcome dedicated volunteers to serve as Reading Buddies. See notice below
NEW COMMUNITY FOR CHILDREN WELCOMES READING BUDDIES
Help children discover a love for reading! Reading Buddies spend one half-hour with their buddy each week. You'll get to build a bond with your buddy, as well as show him/her the value of adult support. Based on the student's reading level, Reading Buddies read to the child, read with a child, or have the child read to them.
Time Commitment: 1/2 hour once a week (Monday, Tuesday or Thursday evenings between 5:30pm-6:00pm)
Participants: children aged 3-12 (students are assigned by NCFC staff)
Volunteer Ratio: 1:1 or 1:2
Location: 1722 6th St. NW (just steps from Shaw/Howard Metro
