[dcab-l] "He Took Your Place" from the Appalachian Jubilee

Bluegrassers:

Here's another gospel recording from the

Appalachian Jubilee in Chambersburg, Pa.,

between late 80's and early 90's.

“He Took Your Place” was written by Lester Flatt

and Earl Scruggs and appeared in the album

Foggy Mountain Gospel”.  This cut has also been

done by Porter Wagoner, the Whites, and

the Roys.

Jim Barnett, Tom Mindte and I worked

up this version of "He Took Your Place";

later, at the performance, we added  fiddler John

Seaburn from the Jubilee band "Keystone".

Tom played bass that night, but throughout

those years at the Capitol Theater, the

house soundboard had terrible trouble getting acoustic

bass recorded correctly; that situation also happened

the night of this recording.  So later, in SoundScenes studio,

I overdubbed the bass part on my fretted P-Bass Lyte.

Jim Barnett played banjo that performance.

Nice little cut.  I hope you enjoy it!
