Specific responsibilities will include, but not be limited to:
- Work with 30 middle and high school students
- Address personal, socio-emotional, academic, and vocational needs that have an impact on attainment of educational goals
- Distinguish actual language disorders from socio economic factors, linguistic differences, and lack of adequate prior instruction
- Gather and interpret data for individual students as well as overall programs and make decisions based on that data
- Conduct assessments in collaboration with other instructional staff in order to identify students with communication disorders as well as inform instruction and intervention
- Provide differentiated intervention that is based on assessment data and tailored to each student's learning needs
- Meet federal and D.C. mandates for report writing, treatment plans, logs, IEP development, etc.
- Communicate with parents in a professional manner
- Other duties as assigned
Qualifications
- Master's degree in Speech/Language Pathology
- Department of Health DC Licensure
- ASHA Certification
- Two years of experience similar to that of a speech-language pathologist
- Valid and current Speech/Language Pathology license
- Experience working with emotionally challenged youth
- Strong commitment to Maya Angelou Schools and See Forever's mission to see that all youth succeed
Salary and Benefits
Starting salaries are comparable to those offered by other charter schools in the District of Columbia. In addition, See Forever offers a robust benefits plan, including health care coverage, a 403(b) retirement savings plan, and a computer purchase assistance plan.
