Case Worker Needed to Support Tutoring Initiative

National Housing Trust/Enterprise is an award winning non-profit housing developer that works to provide affordable housing for low and moderate income families.  To support our mission, we also offer community development programs to help our residents achieve greater economic stability through coaching, financial literacy, asset building, and employment.  Our programs take place onsite where our residents live in  modern and professionally maintained community space.  We are looking for an experienced coach or case worker to support up to 30 families with kids participating in our HungryBrains!™ Tutoring Initiative.  The coach or case worker will work as an independent contractor.     

 

Case Worker Duties:

·         Completes needs assessments and answers questions about available resources

·         Develops a coaching plan (CP) to help residents build interpersonal skills, secure employment, gain educational skills, obtain job skills, build savings, and volunteer

·         Identifies and works with families at risk for late rent payment, utility cut-off, and hunger

·         Coordinates enrollment for residents under the Affordable Care Act

·         Completes monthly reports.  Compiles statistical data. Report out on outcomes.

·         Works collaboratively with property managers to explain policies, procedures, etc. to clients; maintains absolute confidentiality of work-related issues, client records and National Housing Trust/Enterprise information

·         Supports the relationship between National Housing Trust/Enterprise and the constituent population by demonstrating courteous and cooperative behavior when interacting with clients, visitors, property management, and National Housing Trust/Enterprise staff

·         Coordinates effective outreach to parents to maximize participation in parent-teacher conferences 

·         Plans occasional social events for adult

 

Qualifications:

·         Minimum 3.5 GPA from an accredited college or university.

·         Licensed social worker in Maryland, DC, or Virginia

·         MUST HAVE direct case management or coaching experience

·         Four year degree

·         Experience as a volunteer with Big Brother/Big Sister, Boys & Girls Club, AmeriCorp, fraternities, sororities and similar organizations a plus

·         Excellent interpersonal and communication skills. Sense of humor and patience a plus

·         Excellent organizational skills required

·         Strong software and technology skills desired

·         Must have transportation

·         Must pass a background check

 

STATUS/HOURS/COMPENSATION: 
--This is an independent contractor position.
--Up to 10 hours per week during the school year. 

--Must be available Monday - Friday. 
--$35/hour
