Most definitely raise your concerns with him. Andy is very responsive and
needs to know what is on people's minds. That feedback helps him shape
training of his officers. He has taken concerns I've presented in the past
and used the info to instruct officers.

Also, you can ask him to give you contact info from someone who handles
juvenile justice issues from the court side of the legal system. Then you
can find out more directly how young people are handled by the "system."

It would be very helpful if the Department would put out some sort of fact
sheet that explained to the public how issues involving minors are handled.
Of course, statistics would be helpful as well. Given that minors seem to
be "punching above their weight" (no pun intended) when it comes to crimes
in DC, I don't think some sort of documentation or guide from the
Department is too much to ask.

Do you suggest I raise this issue directly with the Commander?
