If so, you might be perfect as a Research Assistant in our Northwest Washington, D.C. office (Red Line Accessible). This is a great opportunity for someone interested in launching their career in a research and public policy-focused organization.
Overview:
edCount, LLC is a woman-owned small business with multiple long-term contracts serving federal and state governments, universities, associations, and other nonprofit clients. Primary topics of interest at edCount are: education standards, assessment, and accountability systems; curriculum and pedagogy; education of students with special needs and English language learners; and the expanding role of the federal government in K-12 education policy. We are seeking individuals with a background or interest in the education field who not only write clearly and convincingly, but also seek to gain experience conducting high-quality research, and providing technical assistance to states and districts.
edCount's staff, located throughout the nation, are connected by the latest IT and communications technologies (Microsoft Exchange, SharePoint, Lync and other communications applications). For further insight in the nature of the firm go to www.edcount.com.
Job Description:
The successful candidate will participate in research/project management tasks including, but not limited to: assuming responsibility for reviewing pre-publication materials for typographical, grammatical, and computational errors; packaging reports, presentations, and digital media for client presentations; recording and reporting on meetings; contributing to substantive reports; managing bibliographies and summarizing articles for literature reviews; assisting in the preparation of proposals; organizing research data and running preliminary analyses; preparing research materials to support focus groups, workshops, and other assemblies; managing logistics and providing onsite support for panels, studies, focus groups, and meetings; hosting and managing online meetings and calls.
Qualifications:
We seek flexible, resourceful, intelligent, detail-oriented, hard-working individuals who are capable of excelling in an intellectually stimulating and often intense work environment, and who have the patience to respectfully handle a wide range of client requests. Strong comfort level with trouble shooting technology issues required. Interest and experience in research is desired, strong writing skills a must, as is facility with the more common MS software applications -- experience with more diverse communication technologies such as Microsoft Exchange, SharePoint, and Lync is considered a plus. A bachelor's degree is required, preferably in one of the social or behavioral sciences. An interest in education reform or public policy generally is highly desired. A willingness to work hard, to learn, and to do everything necessary to support your colleagues is essential.
