As this year draws to an end, there is no better way to start 2013 than with a satisfying day of volunteering. YEP-DC is teaming up with City Year to honor the legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. by participating in a day of service.
On this special day of civic engagement, neighborhood collaboration, and volunteerism, we will transform a high-needs school into a more engaging, educational, and vibrant place for students to learn and play. Projects will include painting murals, building benches, and planting green spaces, among others.
We are looking to have a group of 25-30 volunteers. Please register here by Wednesday, January 5th, to ensure that you will be on the same project with other YEP-DC members. We look forward to seeing you there!
When: Saturday, January 19, 2013 9:00 am – 1:00 pm. Registration opens at 8:30 am.
Where: Burrville Neighborhood in Northeast Washington, DC (We will be organizing a carpool. This neighborhood is also accessible via metro/bus.)
RSVP: http://bit.ly/SK9Phx
**NOTE: We have gotten a few emails about MLK day conflicting with Inauguration. Technically, they are the same day, but City Year is celebrating MLK day with service on the Saturday before.
