What: Lucketts Bluegrass Christmas Jamboree ~ A group of eight musicians selected from some of Lucketts' favorite bands will put on a special Christmas show; a full length concert where differing members of the group will form two or more "bands" and take turns performing the bluegrass favorites that audiences know and love. The show will be capped with a grand finale sing along. Three of the musicians Jay Armsworthy of Eastern Tradition, Tom Mindte of Patuxent Partners and Lynn Healey of Rockledge are lead singers of their own bands; all of the others also sing lead, harmony or both. Some members of the group play more than one instrument adding flexibility to the makeup of the different "bands." Marshall Wilborn (IBMA bass Performer of the Year for 2012); multi- instrumentalist, Keith Dill, with his fiddle; teacher and performer Tara Linhardt with her mandolin; John Brunschwyler with his banjo; and dobro virtuoso, Mark Clifton, will all add their talents to the show. Santa Claus will make an appearance, and there will be special door prizes offered.
As part of the Lucketts Youth Spotlight Program, an exceptional new entry to the bluegrass scene, 5 year old Clare Brown, will open the show with a special fiddle performance. Clare competed in the fiddle contest at the 2012 Loudoun Bluegrass Festival to a thundering ovation. In addition she has sat in with other performers at the Institute of Musical Traditions. Clare's performance could be an "I saw her perform at Lucketts when . . . . " for those who see her Saturday.
