[YEP-DC] K-12 Policy and Data Internship with The Education Trust

Hi all,

The Education Trust is looking to hire a K-12 Policy and Data Intern for the spring of 2013.  Please see below for more information.

About the Education Trust

The Education Trust, one of Washingtonian magazine's "Great Places to Work" and recently named one of the three most effective organizations influencing federal education policy, promotes high academic achievement for all students at all levels, pre-kindergarten through college. Many organizations speak up for the adults employed by schools; we speak up for the students, especially those whose needs and potential are often overlooked. Through both research and advocacy, our goal is to close the gaps in opportunity and achievement that consign far too many young people—especially those from low-income families or who are black, Latino, or American Indian—to lives on the margins of the American mainstream. For more information on The Education Trust, please visit www.edtrust.org.

Internship Program

The Education Trust internship program is for individuals who believe that all students can achieve at high levels and who want to work as part of a team committed to that goal. The program is designed for undergraduates, recent graduates, and graduate students who are capable of doing staff-level work under minimal supervision. Interns are treated as members of the staff and are expected to perform a wide variety of tasks.

Interns work closely with designated Education Trust staff to develop and execute projects that will advance the organization's agenda. This allows interns to broaden their professional skills and experiences. Assigned projects are based on the intern's qualifications and interests as well as the needs of the organization.

Internships typically include a modest stipend. The amount depends on the candidate's education and experience. We discuss this with the applicant if and when an offer is made. Academic credit can be arranged through the intern's sponsoring institution. All interns are expected to work in our Washington, D.C., office, unless otherwise noted.
