Brustein & Manasevit, PLLC – a law firm specializing in federal education grants management – is looking for a Legislative Assistant to work in our legislative practice. This position is a great fit for a young professional interested in a career in education law or public policy.
The duties of the Legislative Assistant include:
· Monitoring regulations and guidance issued by the U.S. Department of Education and other federal agencies;
· Tracking relevant legislation in Congress, particularly the House and Senate education committees;
· Briefing the firm's clients on important regulatory and legislative developments;
· Assisting attorneys with regulatory and legislative research as needed;
· Following news stories related to education; and
· Providing event support for the firm's yearly conferences in cities including Las Vegas, New Orleans, Philadelphia, and Washington, DC.
The ideal candidate for the Legislative Assistant position will be a recent college graduate with a demonstrated understanding of the federal legislative and regulatory process. The candidate will need to be a skilled writer and researcher, as well as a multi-tasker who can juggle and prioritize multiple responsibilities.
