Jason Hirschorn, a music industry veteran, breaks down many of the
money issues in the recorded music industry.

However, he only alludes to the festival eco-system created by jam
bands and jamgrass. To a lesser extend, trad bluegrass and blues have
also created their own festival-based eco-system.
These environments survive outside of the traditional record
label-based compensation and management structures, and the fans and
artists basically ignore major labels, as they produce little or
nothing of interest to these music fans.
So it's the top end of the business where the dynamics have changed a lot.
