National Education and Mobilization Manager -- Posting Closes August 19, 2015

 

Position Summary

As a rapidly growing, entrepreneurial organization that aims to achieve extraordinary goals, Hope Street Group seeks a dynamic individual to become a National Manager for our National Teacher Fellows Program. This position reports to the Director of Educator Engagement and works with all Hope Street Group staff to implement Hope Street Group's National Teacher Fellows Program and inform best practice for the State Teacher Fellows Program.

The National Manager is responsible for implementing and overseeing the National Teacher Fellows program by: building, collecting, and aggregating teacher voice and perspectives; and assisting teachers in their role serving as spokespeople for the profession and improvement in education policy. Over the course of the 2015 - 2016 school year, National Teacher Fellows (NTFs) will gather educator perceptions, to create teacher-led recommendations around a particular topic that will be delivered to the U.S. Department of Education and other national policymakers and organizations.

In addition, the National Manager will oversee and implement the selections process of Teacher Fellows across the organization as well as work with the National staff to identify partnership opportunities with national organizations to further the mission of the organization.

The position is available immediately.

Responsibilities

 

·       Teacher Voice Mobilization and Aggregation

o   Facilitate collaboration (along with the Director of Educator Engagement) with USED and other national partners;

o   Work with the Director of Educator Engagement to implement a robust engagement calendar for the program wherein teachers learn, connect, and make impact on the policies and practices that affect their classrooms and the classrooms of their peers;

o   Implement marketing campaigns for engagement of NTFs to utilize in their states;

o   Manage NTF regional mobilization plans;

o   Coach and support NTFs to accomplish their goals and grow to be more effective leaders;

o   Work with the Director of Policy and Partnerships to create reports and deliverables for the NTF program and identify outlets for NTFs to present their findings;

o   Work with the Director of Educator Engagement and the Education Team to develop program content and manage program implementation;

o   Share best practices for mobilization and engagement with State Directors and Hope Street Group staff; and

o   Oversee the promotion and selection of future HSG Teacher Fellows including direct leadership and management of the HSG Teacher Fellows application process in multiple states.

·       Hope Street Group Representative

o   Serve as a point of contact to USED and coordinate communication between HSG and external partners;

o   Work effectively with HSG National External Affairs staff, local media outlets and national communications teams to elevate Hope Street Group's presence in states with NTFs; and

o   Help develop partnerships with education and community organizations to help grow the Hope StreetGroup teacher network.

Qualifications

The ideal candidatwill be a self-starter anhave the following:

·       Bachelor's degree in related field (education, public policy, communications);

·       At least three years of applicable experience in program coordination or management;

·       At least three years of experience in and with mobilization and community engagement;

·       Excellent oral and written communications skills with a strong attention to detail and a proven ability to produce written products that are of high-quality;

·       Successful experience working with colleagues to launch and actively manage large-scale, complex projects;

·       Working knowledge of surveying and data collection;

·       Experience training adults and providing technical assistance to a variety of professionals;

·       Successful experience working across an organization with a team-based approach to implement a common goal;strong organizational skills and a proven ability to work independently;

·       Extensive experience with Microsoft Office, virtual office communication tools (e.g. Skype), and social media;

·       Comfort working in a fast-paced, deadline-oriented work setting with multiple ongoing responsibilities, and high expectations for quality work products;

·       Strong relationship building and interpersonal skills with demonstrated success as a collaborative team player;

·       Exemplary presentation skills;

·       Prior experience working in a virtual environment is preferred;

·       Passion for public service and Hope Street Group's mission that will drive interest and commitment to our collaborative public policy model; and

·       Willingness and ability to travel as needed.

Work Environment

Hope Street Group is a virtual organization and we expect applicants to maintain their own physical workspaces. Compensation

This is a full time position. Hope Street Group offers a competitive salary based on experience with vacation, sick days, health care, dental and optional 403(b) plan.
