[dcab-l] DCBU Promotions Workshop August 2nd...

Hey Everybody-

The DCBU has been trying to set something like this up for a while, and we're glad to get it done!

What: Open House Music Promotion Workshop focusing on social media/internet outlets. We've assembled 3 folks who use it effectivlely in thier musical endeavors: Andrea Ball (publicist Make Welcome Entertainment); Justin Trawick (musician, Justin Trawick and the Common Good, The 9 Songwriter series) and Anders Thuesen (promotor, Songwriters and Poets) who will share their perspectives.  I'll moderate. 

When: Sunday, August 2. 3-7:30, The workshop kicks it off (around 3:30 or so) and will be followed by a performance by Sweet Yonder.

Where: JV's Restaurant in Falls Church

Why: The social media environment seems to keep evolving, and bands/musicians need to keep up. Its aggravating, yes, but if you're going to do it, it should be effective as you can make it.  DCBU's intent is to inform and assist member bands and musicians, but all are welcome and encouraged. Open House.  NO COVER! Not a bluegrasser? no problem. Join us. 

All musicians should be involved with social media nowadays. DCBU's Music Promotion Workshop is a great introduction for beginners, or source for new ideas for those who are more familiar with social media. 

The afternoon will close with some great bluegrass by Sweet Yonder, a dynamic new local DCBU member band.
