After-school STEM Instructor
College Tribe is a mentoring program enhanced with STEM education. Our boys attend elementary and middle schools in Southeast DC. Our mentors are African-American men with a college degree or military ranking. Mentors and mentees meet three days a month to engage in STEM education. We host after-school programs at 4 schools in Southeast, teaching robotics, chess, video game design, and computer engineering, with more topics in the works! College Tribe exists to bring STEM opportunities and social capital to boys in Southeast DC, join us!

Description The after-school STEM Instructor leads 10-15 boys, grades 3-8, in our STEM subjects - robotics, chess, video game design, and computer engineering. You are in two schools, four days a week - two days at each school - for 90 minutes. Our curriculum is project-based and we use competition to motivate the boys. The STEM Instructor encourages independent thought, explains the material clearly, and is fair and approachable.

Core Responsibilities
- Manage and inspire a classroom of 15 boys, grades 3-8
- Learn and deliver STEM subjects (robotics, chess, etc)
- Create daily lesson plans; track attendance and STEM assessments
- Communicate with school administration and parents

Personal Qualities A qualified candidate will be organized, thorough, composed under stress, flexible, excited to learn new things, and is emotionally intelligent.
