[YEP-DC] Job Posting: Part-time Program Assistant at America Achieves

The America Achieves Fellowship for Teachers and Principals is looking to hire a part-time Program Assistant to help manage the New York Educator Voice Network.

About the America Achieves Fellowship and the New York Educator Voice Network

The America Achieves Fellowship for Teachers and Principals (AAFTP) enables outstanding educators to share the work inside their classrooms with outside audiences in order to impact education policy, practice, and public debates. We believe that when educators are included in the conversation, the public has a better sense of what works (and what doesn’t work) and better policy decisions are made for teaching and learning.

The AAFTP is now building a network of top educators through which teachers and principals from across New York State can bring their classroom experiences with the Common Core to outside audiences. Educators who join the Network will be offered skills training and support to showcase what works in their classrooms and schools to their communities and across the state.

Job Description

The AAFTP will hire a part-time (20 hours/week) Program Assistant to support the NY Educator Voice Network program for three months. We are hiring to fill this position as soon as possible, preferably before the end of March. The Program Assistant will play an integral role in all of the program’s components and will gain experience in all aspects of program management. The Program Assistant will work with the Program Manager and other AAFTP staff to:

·         Write the bi-weekly newsletter for the NY Educator Voice Network;

·         Manage correspondence with the educators in the Network;

·         Manage the database to track educators’ speaking, writing, and leadership activities;

·         Prepare presentations and write reports about the activities and outputs of the NY Educator Voice Network;

·         Help manage educators’ action plans and hold them accountable for their commitments to speak and write publicly

·         Help match educators with opportunities to speak publicly, write for publication in local media, and participate in public forums;

·         Help educators prepare for speaking and writing opportunities (thought partnership, review writing, provide helpful resources, provide moral support);

·         Help publicize the educators’ activities through social media.

Job Qualifications

·         Candidate is based in New York state or Washington, DC

·         Strong writing skills

·         Strong organizational skills

·         Experience with fast-paced communications (email, new media, social media)

·         Experience building and maintaining databases in Excel and Google (and Salesforce preferred)

·         Experience as a teacher or working with teachers (preferred)

·         Experience working on an advocacy campaign (preferred)

·         Knowledge of the Common Core State Standards (preferred)

This position will earn a competitive monthly salary. America Achieves is an equal opportunity employer.
