STEM Education and Policy Internship Program (Summer 2014)
The Afterschool Alliance seeks self-starting team players with a strong interest in out-of-school time policy and advocacy to apply for its STEM Education and Policy Internship program. Interns will gain a first-hand understanding of the state of STEM education in afterschool and the connections between research, policy, advocacy and field work in the afterschool, before-school and summer learning time space.
Core Components
- An understanding of informal science education and the role afterschool programs play in providing STEM learning opportunities outside of school.
- An understanding of afterschool’s benefits to children, families & communities and of issues concerning the afterschool movement.
- Familiarity with the K-12 STEM education policy landscape and nonprofit advocacy.
- Supplemental career development support as appropriate.
