[YEP-DC] Science Education Leader Cadre- OSSE

OSSE is recruiting Science Teacher Leaders to participate in the Science Educator Leader Cadre. The deadline to apply is Friday, March 28th 2014 by 5pm.

The Office of the State Superintendent of Education's Science Educator Leadership Cadre (SELC), is a working group made of teachers from across the state that meet to discuss how decisions made at the state level are or will affect teachers in classrooms across the District of Columbia. The group consists of DC Teacher of the Year Finalists, Milken Award Teachers, Presidential Math and Science Teacher Awardees, and other qualified teacher leaders throughout the District of Columbia. OSSE will select 3 teachers per grade level to participate.  

                       *DCPS Teachers will need to secure the endorsement (email confirmation) of the Science Curriculum Specialist, James Rountree.

Objectives:

Members of this group will:

• Provide feedback about the vision and phase-in strategy for implementation and assessment.
• Receive comprehensive professional development related to Next Generation Science Standards (NGSS).
• Discuss existing supports and make recommendations regarding professional development priorities and needs.
• Assist OSSE in building a comprehensive repository of professional and instructional resources to support the implementation of NGSS.
• Disseminate information about the standards to their community and garner feedback.
• Attend monthly meetings.( Tentative: * Participate in a paid Summer Institute- July 7^th- July 25^th, 2014 from 9am to 3pm.)
