Key Accountability Areas
Instructional Effectiveness and Optimal Learning Environment
- Consistently observes teacher practice; provides substantive, strategy-laden feedback, encourages reflection and models excellence
- Partners with content leads and Home Office curriculum team to support teachers' deep understanding and effective execution of curriculum
- Plans and implements strategies to address hindrances to learning including attendance concerns and behavior issues
- Manages instructional efficacy; analyzes relevant data, implements action plans/interventions and monitors them
- Manages academic support programming; analyzes relevant data, implements action plans/interventions and monitors them
- Identifies and manages portfolio of struggling teachers, recommending and facilitating interventions to support improvement
- Ensures classroom management systems are executed with fidelity
- Supports teachers in developing and implementing targeted interventions
High Quality Adult Learning Community
- Prepares and executes data-driven engaging professional development sessions
- Partners with relevant school community members to ensure effective programming for new teacher orientation, data days, performance improvement network sessions, etc.
- Participates in grade level and content specific meetings
- Facilitates Instructional Support Program (ISP) for Instructional Lead Team
Mission-Aligned School Culture
- Works with Human Resources to analyze teacher and student survey data and craft a goal-based plan to address issues
- Partners with relevant Chavez community members to ensure policies and practices reflect positive achievement-oriented school culture
- Works to create and sustain programming for teachers, staff and students that rewards consistent progress and achievement
- Addresses family concerns timely and appropriately
- Solicit family buy-in for school-wide behavior systems
- Communicates regularly with families to ensure a supportive home-school relationship and to reinforce expectations for student behavior
- Works to ensure strong PTA function and consistent family engagement
- Primary point of contact for complex and/or escalated parent discussions of individual scholar performance
- Manages college counseling, registrar, data & intervention, and ELL functions
- Manages instructional Lead Teachers
- Serve as key member of campus' hiring team
- Minimum of 2 years as an effective teacher leader/instructional coach in an urban school community as demonstrated by teacher achievement and growth data
- Minimum of 3 years' demonstrated success as an effective classroom teacher in an urban school community as evidenced by scholar achievement, scholar growth and evaluation data
- Substantive experience with data and intervention programming
- Substantive leadership development coursework
- Solid understanding of the developmental and social nuances of children in grades 9-12
- Bachelor's degree; Master's degree in Education Administration or related coursework preferred
