Teacher Selection Liaison
Pay Plan: EG (WAE, Non-Instructional)
Start Date: February 2015
Hourly Wage: $18
Our public school students need your expertise, passion and leadership.
We are looking for highly motivated and skilled talent to join our team at District of Columbia Public Schools (DCPS). We seek individuals who are passionate about transforming the DC school system and making a significant difference in the lives of public school students, parents, principals, teachers, and central office employees.
DCPS serves 45,000 students in the nation's capital through the efforts of approximately 4,000 educators in 123 schools. As part of a comprehensive reform effort to become the preeminent urban school system in America, DCPS intends to have the highest-performing, best paid, most satisfied, and most honored educator force in the nation and a distinctive central office staff whose work supports and drives instructional excellence and significant achievement gains for DCPS students.
Position Overview
Teacher Selection Liaisons (TSLs) have the unique opportunity to shape the new-teacher cohort for the 2015-2016 school year by facilitating the selection of highly effective teachers to join the DCPS teacher force.
As part of the Teacher Recruitment and Selection team, TSLs play a critical role in candidate cultivation, as they interface with final round candidates who have been recruited nationwide to apply to teach in DCPS. The final round is not only an essential step for selecting top candidates, but it is also an important time for candidates to decide if DCPS is the best fit for them. TSLs are instrumental to ensuring a positive candidate experience throughout the final stages of the selection and onboarding processes.
In addition, TSLs will have the opportunity to observe and work with top-performing teachers and school leaders in the district, as they coordinate audition logistics at assigned school sites. TSLs will manage up to two school sites for the entirety of the selection season. TSLs will be responsible for filming all auditions and uploading videos to a central database so that principals can view candidates' auditions, as they make critical hiring decisions.
Finally, TSLs will help plan, coordinate, and publicize hiring and networking events in order to help facilitate contact between candidates and principals.
TSLs will work, on average, 40 hours per work, Monday through Friday. The TSL position is a part-time, seasonal position lasting from February 2015 through June 2015.
