EARLY CHILDHOOD PROGRAM QUALITY DATA COLLECTORS
General Description:
School Readiness Consulting is seeking multiple part-time data collectors to assist us in our efforts to improve early childhood classroom quality in District of Columbia public charter schools. The program quality assessment is the Classroom Assessment Scoring System (CLASS Pre-K and K-3). Child assessments are to be determined, but will measure children's learning in relation to academic and social indicators. The project will commence in mid-September, 2012 and end mid-May, 2013.
Duties and Responsibilities:
· The position may include three observations a week in the fall and spring of the academic year, or between two and three observations a week from October through May.
· Data Collectors will work 5-hour days (approximately 15 hours per week) during the academic year, though there might be some weeks for which more or less time is required. Data collection and any associated meetings will occur between the hours of 7:30am-2:00pm.
· Training on child assessments will be provided.
· Attendance at monthly meetings is required.
Qualifications:
· B.A. degree plus some coursework in early childhood care and education and classroom experience is preferred;
· We are especially interested in recruiting bilingual CLASS observers and those who can administer child assessments in Spanish
· Punctuality, a commitment to teamwork, flexibility, and excellent communication skills are a must.
· Applicants have attained reliability on CLASS by 9/15 in order to administer the CLASS assessment, and have experience administering child assessments to preschool-aged children in order to administer child assessments;
· All observers will be expected to attend trainings and monthly meetings as required
· Having your own transportation is a plus, but not required; Reliable transportation is required. Our sites are all accessible by Metro and/or by Metrobus.
· A nine month commitment is required.
Salary:
· CLASS observations will be compensated at $115 per classroom evaluated.
o This includes travel time and expenses, a reminder call to the school the night before, and mailing of observation score sheets (SRC will provide postage).
· Child assessments will be compensated at $30/per child evaluated.
o This includes administering the entire battery of assessments (which are currently being determined); travel time and expenses; maintenance of roster at school; dropping off and explaining parent information forms at schools; and sending results to SRC (SRC will provide postage).
· All other work (monthly meetings, materials, child assessment drift testing, and any training necessary) will be reimbursed at a rate of $20/hour.
· We are unable to offer benefits or leave compensation.
Requirements:
All observers are required to submit proof of current negative TB test, and proof of current a criminal background check that enable them access to DC public charter schools for the AY 2012-2013. Participants will be expected to log activities into SRC invoicing system and will not be reimbursed reporting hours and time spent invoicing. All observations will occur the District of Columbia.
